Dr. Tim Clark, University of Hawaii, attached acoustic transmitters onto manta rays for his PhD Thesis (2003). Goal was to find out where the manta rays live around the deep waters of Hawaii. Once the tag was attached he could track the animals acoustically, and thereby study the paths and habitats of these elusive marine "black & white angels". With a better understanding of their behavior, we can address concerns about the health of our oceans, and therefore protect not only the rays, but also their cohabitants. PS: Tim - you rock in my world! - T
