episodic is an exciting new rock band from, of all places, Flint, Michigan (the birthplace of Buick Motor Car Company, Grand Funk Railroad and Michael Moore, but, hey, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!). Born out of a longheld dream of guitarist/songwriter Rich Kotsko, episodic is nearing completion of their independently produced CD, tentatively titled 'do not discard', the first 3 tracks of which are posted on this MySpace site. Rich spent about 2 years networking and searching for players, but not quite finding the right mix...going back and forth from not having a drummer to not having a bass player. He was about ready to hang it up when longtime friend and uber drummer, Mark Routt, asked if he were still looking to put a band together since his schedule had recently freed up. Another friend, guitarist Jeremy Aiello, suggested a friend of his as singer, and the band was underway, although a bass player had not yet been found. Ironically, Jeremy came to a couple practices to observe and announced he would switch to bass to complete the band. His clever and melodic contribution to the rythmn section can only be described as (Spinal Tap-esque) lead bass! In 2004, the band hooked up with Mike Jones, former founder/bassist for local Prog Metal favorites Liquid Eclipse to record a CD. Midway through the project, however, the decision was made to find a new singer more compatible with their sound, so everything came to a screaching halt. They worked with one very talented singer for several months, but found they had different ideas for the direction of the band. The guys asked Mike Jones if his former singer, Chris Lopez, might be available and interested. It took several months and much coaxing , but Chris finally agreed. His soaring vocals and passionate song interpretations were the final touch the music required. Not only are they each talented and accomplished musicians, but they have become close friends and their kindred spirits inhabit the whole of their music. So far, they have only played one show, a benefit concert at the Kilt Lounge in Grand Blanc, MI, hosted by local band Bad Motor Finger (who are a killer note-for-note Classic Rock band, by the way!), but plan to get involved in the local music scene in early 2007. And from there, who knows?....
