The best way to do this is to use a two liter bottle (not a 1 liter bottle). Fill the bottom up to the top of the black ring caps the bottom of the bottle or to the bottom edge of the label with shredded aluminum foil. Fill the bottle to the same level with the works. Lastly don't throw the bottle, set it down for best results. This method makes much louder bangs. I've set off car alarms from 1000 ft away using that method. This works because "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner has the correct amount of hydrochloric acid to produce the gas that explodes the bottle. The Hydrochloric acid eats at the aluminum foil producing hydrochloric gas which then fills the bottle causing it to explode when it can't hold anymore. I've tried other toilet bowl cleaners, but only the works produced the desired affect. Just a note for people reading this. In some communities this can be considered a felony. I personally ended up with 50 community hours and 200 dollars in fines for setting off these "bombs". That was 15 years ago. Don't know what the penalty would be now.
