This piece is obviously about the late Buddy Holly, but it's also about the loss of the culture that surrounded him. As an interesting sdenote, I once submitted an earlier version of this tribute poem to a Buddy Holly website, and the webmaster said he would show it to "Maria" for approval. I didn't realize he meant Maria Holly. This poem is part of my Jerusalem Engine Repair Company collection now available onlin.
