How the boys learned to blend in, not embelleshing what they said. I don't like magic, but had to write in a character that would want to learn it. Outfitting themselves, the purpose of a cloak. A violent place, where bandits from outside of their lord's control sometimes wander in and rob from the people. Never knowing when the different lords will war with each other for land. The threat of warfare, how even the village they are in was "captured." Traveling by foot, horse, or riding a wagon. Learning to fight from veterans. Using spears was very common in more primitive cultures. Hand-sharpened wooden spears, good for beginners.
