A video art piece about suggestion and the power of constructed reality. I believe that one of the most important factors behind the coercive power of religious organizations is their use of rhetoric to construct false realities; Making these utopian visions more plausible by showing the undesirable nature of actual reality. Karl Marx often made the point that religion is an 'opiate of the masses,' something that will be discarded when people no longer have a use for it. After breaking down and analyzing the elements of religious evangelicism, I created this fake group of cultists to explore how constructed reality empowers belief.
