Gazz:
An interesting collection of vids. I looked over the Steam engine vids and a couple of your others. I'll probably come back again to go through some more.
The engines you call steam engines are actually gasoline engines. In our area ( Nova Scotia, Canada and also in NE US, Mass., Maine) they are known as "make and breaks". They are also known locally by the manufacturers names . They were used on old schooners and some small coastal freighters as on deck "donkey engines , to lift cargo on board. The were also used extensively to power small inshore fishing boats ( from about 15 ft long to around 25 ft. or so). The name "make and break " comes from the type of ignition system used on the engines. They were very simple construction and fairly tough engines, if something did go wrong they were easily repaired by the owner.
thanks for that ... i actually went through and changed the title to Gasoline Engines... i didnt really take any notice ..... i was in a rush that day .. but yeh thanks .......
