This the second open source Geek Brief. Thanks to Chris Farley [1], Brian McNitt [2], David Sinclair [3], Dave Peterson [4], and Rick Yaeger [5] for playing along at home. Story #1 provided by Chris was about Apple pushing Safari to iTunes users [6] on Windows through software updates. Chris doesn't like the idea. I think Apple is just playing the game by Micrsoft's rules because Apple heard Windows machines are better for gaming. Brian McNitt pointed out how Macs do a pretty commendable job with it's built-in text-to-speech functionality. It can be enhanced with an application called iSpeak It from ZappTek [7] that converts text to speech and sends it to iTunes. Cepstral [8] sells voices you can add to your accessability mix. They have versions that are compatable with Macs and PCs.
